Studio · New in Cadence Coach 10.0

Treadmill runs,fully measured.

Studio turns an iPad on the treadmill console — or an iPhone in landscape — into a live dashboard. The treadmill knows your speed. Your strap and watch know your heart rate and cadence. Studio puts them together.

How Studio connects A Bluetooth FTMS treadmill and a heart-rate strap connect directly to the iPad. Apple Watch sends heart rate and cadence to the iPhone, which relays them to the iPad over the local network. On screen

Built to be read from a metre away, mid-stride.

A dark console with large numbers, designed for an iPad on a stand or on the treadmill itself.

Cadence in a pulse ring

Your live step rate against the target, with the metronome beating in the centre.

Left/right step line

Eight cells light up with every step and turn orange when you leave the ±3 spm target band.

Five-minute graph

Cadence over the last five minutes, so you can see drift before you feel it.

Heart rate and zones

From your strap or Apple Watch, coloured by your personal zones.

Speed, pace, stride length

Treadmill speed divided by cadence gives live stride length — a number no single device shows.

Pause and finish

Pause from the screen; the session, Apple Health and Strava keep the correct active time.

Three ways to run it

Choose the setup that fits your treadmill.

A

Bluetooth treadmill

Your iPad connects directly to a treadmill that broadcasts Bluetooth FTMS, plus a heart-rate strap. Speed, distance and incline appear live.

Live · saved to Health and Strava with treadmill distance
B

Watch on the treadmill

For gym treadmills with Apple GymKit: run the Workout app on your watch against the treadmill, and Studio on the iPad. Treadmill data joins your session report afterwards.

Advanced · report after the workout
C

Strap and watch only

No connected treadmill? Studio still shows cadence, heart rate and the step line from your strap, Apple Watch or iPhone.

Works on any treadmill — or none
Compatibility

Which treadmills work?

Setup A needs a treadmill that broadcasts Bluetooth FTMS (Fitness Machine Service) — the same open standard Zwift and Kinomap use. Many newer home treadmills and some gym consoles do; closed systems do not.

Should work (FTMS)

  • Technogym MyRun
  • Matrix, Horizon, Vision (XR-02 / XUR / XER-02 / XIR-02 consoles)
  • Woodway 4Front
  • Wahoo KICKR Run
  • Sole, Xterra and most home treadmills with app pairing

Not supported (closed systems)

  • NordicTrack / ProForm (iFIT)
  • Peloton Tread
  • Precor P-series consoles
  • Life Fitness Discover consoles
  • Technogym Excite / Run (gym consoles)

Gym treadmill with Apple GymKit? Use setup B — the treadmill sends speed and distance to your Apple Watch, and Cadence Coach reads them from Health after the workout.

What you need

  • Cadence Coach Premium (one-time purchase, covers iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch)
  • An iPad, or an iPhone in landscape
  • Optional: a Bluetooth heart-rate strap, an Apple Watch paired with your iPhone, a Bluetooth FTMS treadmill
  • For watch data on iPad: iPhone and iPad on the same Wi-Fi network, with Local Network access allowed

Studio reads data from the treadmill; it never controls speed or incline.

Bring your treadmill into the session.

Studio is included in Cadence Coach Premium.
